Formula: HEX channel pairs convert to decimal RGB values from 0 to 255; HSL is derived from normalized RGB minimum, maximum and delta values
Limits and assumptions
- Only six-digit sRGB HEX values are accepted
- Alpha transparency is not part of this conversion
- Displays can render the same values differently
Frequently asked questions
Does converting HEX to RGB change the color?
No. It changes the notation, not the underlying sRGB channel values.
Can I convert an eight-digit HEX value?
This tool currently handles opaque six-digit HEX colors only.
Why can HSL values differ between tools?
Tools may round intermediate values differently while producing visually equivalent colors.
